  • December Wedding in Devon

This lovely local couple got married on a very cold December day at Lympstone Church. The beautiful winter bouquet and buttonholes were from Topsham's florist Floren and the bride's dress was also from Topsham, Kiva & Zen, just opposite Dart's Farm. After the ceremony, we did some Lympstone photos with the river as our backdrop, and then the couple had a reception at the nearby Winslade Manor with its stylish cocktail bar.

  • The King and Queen of Topsham!

The big day started with bridal prep in Topsham and a happy happy ceremony in St Margaret's Church. The bride arrived at church in an old classic car lent by a Topsham family friend which only just made it through the narrow streets! The crowds had gathered to watch her go in. After confetti, the couple had a few photos at the river and in the old-fashioned streets and then were driven a few miles down the road to Courtway Meadows near Clyst St Mary where an amazing marquee had been erected and decorated. The decorations were amazing (blog to follow), all put together by family and friends. The meal and speeches followed, and then for the live music by the groom's own band. After the manic fan scenes, led by the bride!, I coaxed them out at sunset for their couple photos in the golden meadow with a spare bottle of Pebblebed fizz! Such a beautiful wedding, even more special for me to photograph. as they were family friends and I had known the groom since he was 7!

  • Festival Wedding on the Cliffs at Croyde Bay

As a Devon wedding photographer, it was a privilege to be part of such a joyful and vibrant wedding in our county during May 2022, amidst the scorching heatwave. The couple had already undergone the civil ceremony, making way for the bride's brother to conduct this memorable cliffside ceremony with a breathtaking view of the sea. The bride was a vision in her Willow By Watters dress as she made her way down the aisle, with music from The Jungle Book bringing everyone together. The Buffalo Bar was a standout feature, serving espresso martinis all day and reflecting the sun, seaside colors, and festival flags with its bright silver trailer. Guests sipped cocktails on hay bales, relaxed in the chill out tent, and had a blast riding the bucking bronco surfboard. The Sri Lankan curry by Hippy Happy Hoppers was a tasty addition to the day, while the flowers by Me and My Bloomers and Sweetpeas and Sunflowers added to the summer festival vibes perfectly. As afternoon gave way to evening, The No Limit Street Band treated us to a fantastic musical performance. As a local Devon wedding photographer, it was a real treat to capture the couple and bridesmaids in such a perfect seaside setting, taking photos down on the beach during golden hour. The bride was shining even brighter with her sparkly face and turquoise sequin cape. The day finally ended with a sparkler tunnel and the bride twinkling away into the sunset. It was an absolute pleasure to have shared such a special day with the couple and their guests.

  • Boconnoc Details

The little details of this Cornwall wedding were worthy of their own blog. It's always good to have a bit of wedding inspiration. The flowers were so gorgeous, by Amanda Randell Cox, the magnificent dress by Jesus Peiro via Miss Bush Bridal, the catering including oysters and hors d'oeuvres by Fego Food Co. Here the gorgeous wedding cake is shown in the magnificent drawing room at Boconnoc. The bridal party were so smart in their morning suits and pale pink bridesmaid dresses. The dining room was candlelit even though it was still blaring sunlight outside, but dusk fell pretty quickly and it was so atmospheric in there. Finally the decorated buggy which the bride and groom drove away in - only 2 minutes down the drive to the main house!

  • Elopement photos in Riad 42

Amy (a brilliant make up artist) and Mike had elopement photos taken at Riad 42 in the centre of the Marrakesh Medina, hidden away behind high walls, surrounded by cool tiles, pools and green vegetation. The doorways and balconies provided different backdrops for the couple photos and the sleek perfect dress by Halo & Wren Bridal set off Amy's slim figure beautifully.

  • Dreamy wedding at Cornwall's Boconnoc Estate

G & E had an amazing September wedding at this beautiful and impressive estate. They had a pre-wedding dinner the night before in Boconnoc's Stableyard. The day of the wedding was lovely and hot, the bride glowed in her Jesus Peiro dress surround by dusty pink roses by Amanda Randell Cox. She got ready in the big house with her girls and the chaps made their way down to the church just next to the house, having had a lovely picnic lunch outside. The flowers in the church were amazing (see my next blog). The couple drove from the church back to the house down the sweeping drive in a buggy and joined their guests eating oysters and sipping champagne. They had couple photos in the sunlight, practicing their first dance and laughing a lot! The bride made her speech outside and they then made their way to the candlelit dining room, and on to dancing in the wood-panelled hall.

  • Elopement photos in the Medina of Marrakech

It was so special photographing this couple's wedding photos in the Medina of Marrakech, it was so vibrant and colourful and buzzing. We wound our way (with a guide) through the narrow cobbled streets with the beautiful sunlight peeping over the high citadel walls. We went from the wool dyers souk to the lamp shops, through archways, past donkeys and carts, with scooters rushing past us. Shoemakers sat on stools cutting their leather, chickens were squawking, muezzins were calling. The bride looked amazing in her Halo & Wren wedding dress and the groom was cool and smart in pale linen. It is actually very simple to have an elopement and photos in Marrakech, a short flight from London, a simple taxi ride to the Medina, Riad 42 is one of the many beautiful hotels right in the Medina and with a guide it is possible to have these type of colourful and atmospheric wedding photos. You could also have desert elopement photos too!

  • Devon Wedding Down on the Farm

This wedding was filled with laughter and joy, despite some decidedly unpredictable weather that brought sun, rain, thunder and even bubbles. Lots of bubbles! As such, it was a typical Devon wedding photography day. The celebrations took place at Middlecoombe Farm, a charming rural location situated literally in the middle of nowhere, not too far from Tiverton. It's perfect for couples looking for a picturesque venue with multiple options. The sprawling farmhouse serves as a perfect spot for getting ready, while the barn or a woodland clearing can be used for the ceremony. They even have a marquee that's ideal for the wedding breakfast. Weather permitting, the beautiful gardens, woodlands and orchards offer a classic backdrop for wedding photography. The bride and groom were a stunning couple, who reminded me of a very famous duo (can you guess who?). Their gorgeous baby, along with friends and family, were all there to share in the happiness and make the day even more special. As the wedding party made its way toward the woodland clearing a huge storm broke out. But while I may have looked like a drowned rat, the bride remained pristine, perched on her swing as the groom and a friend entertained guests with acoustic music under umbrellas. Fortunately, the sun did made an appearance towards the end of the day and the couple accompanied by their bridesmaids ran out into the field for some final photos during the 'goldenish' hour, complete with huge bubbles! Our county's fast-changing weather often brings challenges for Devon wedding photography, but despite the rain this stunning couple hosted a truly delightful experience filled with sunshine, love, laughter and just a touch of adventure. #devonwedding #devonweddingphotographer #devonweddingvenue

  • Sun-filled Marquee Wedding on the Cliff in South Devon

In the heatwave of summer 2022, I photographed this amazing wedding at Carswell Weddings in South Devon. The couple had their ceremony in the gorgeous roofless chapel at Noss Mayo. and then they and their guests walked back to the reception along the South West Coast Path. While the guests were having drinks and nibbles looking out over the sea, we did a little couple shoot, and then the party started. They had a brass band playing and afternoon tea, and later the guests sat down in the marquee to a tasty vegan curry meal brought all the way from North London. Before the ceilidh started, I coaxed the couple out for ten minutes in the amazing sunset, it was glorious! #carswellweddings #southdevon #devonwedding #devonweddingvenue

  • The Best Wedding Day at Hestercombe Gardens, Somerset

B&J had the perfect wedding day at Hestercombe in August, the bride arriving with her dad in a beautiful pale blue classic car, having a few moments to calm her nerves in the wood-panelled drawing room, before walking through the rose gardens to the famous Orangery where the ceremony took place. I love the Orangery photographically, the light is so beautiful there. The bride looked stunning in her Wed2B wedding dress and carrying her white flowers by Dahlia Florists. After the ceremony, the guests had fizz and nibbles on the lawn, and we quickly went through the group photos on the steps in front of the orangery. I whisked B&J off for some private couple photos before the wedding breakfast, making full use of the glorious gardens at Hestercombe. The meal was held in the venue's barn. There was a little bit of a sunset later so we snuck out again for ten minutes to make use of the golden light. Then it was time for dancing, the couple had practiced a few moves with me at couple photos so were brilliant at first dance. I provided the photos to the couple within a few days and they were over the moon. The groom joked that he wanted to print off all 1225 photos! A couple of days later he sent a pic of the pile of prints that had arrived!

  • Devon photographer: Family Photoshoot in Topsham

What a photogenic family! It was a joy to photograph this beautiful family for a birthday celebration. The morning October sun created a lovely light through the trees and the children really enjoyed posing for the photos with each other, walking and jumping along the riverfront to create fun and happy images. #portraitphotography #Babyphotographer #Devonphotographer #devonchildrensphotographer #Topshamphotographer #Exeterphotographer #familyphotoshoot #childphotography #Topsham #StMargaretsChurchTopsham #Devonfamilyportrait

  • Devon wedding photographer: Love and Laughter on a very wet October day!

The forecast was dreadful for this lovely couple's wedding at the end of October! Our wet weather plan was for family photos in the church after the ceremony. The bridal preparations were very jolly in the cosy cottage in Tedburn St Mary and the bride watched the wedding episode from Friends while she had her make-up done by @lizahaywardmakeupartist and hair by @natalienicholsbridal. As a surprise, the family had hired the bride a dark green Mustang for her wedding car which was so cool. The ceremony and group photos took place at Tedburn St Mary Church and then back to Tedburn where the village hall had cleverly been turned into a marquee by hiring a marquee lining! The food was delicious provided by @m.welshcatering. Me and the bride and groom nipped outside for ten minutes when there was a break in the weather, for portraits and a confetti shot. The bride looked stunning in her dress from @pirouettebridal and with her bouqet from @budtobloom. #Exeterwedding #weddingideas #weddingfirstdance #Devonwedding #Devonweddingvenue #weddingcake #weddingphotographer #weddingdress #devonweddingphotographer #Exeterweddingphotographer #weddingcar #flowergirls #bride #bridalpreparation #bridalportraits #bridalmakeup #bridesmaids #bridalbouquet #groom #TedburnStMary #confetti
